The Gibson Women’s Institute has been thriving in Saffron Walden since 1962 and continues today with over 70 members. We are an inclusive community of friendly active-minded women, and we always welcome new members at any time.

Our regular meeting is on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the United Reform Church Hall on Abbey Lane, Saffron Walden CB10 1AG

We also have a book discussion group, monthly coffee meetings, pub lunches, quiz and games nights, pot luck suppers, participate in fund raising and local support and have interactions with other WI groups in the area.

What’s On

May, 2024

  • 2 May: Annual Meeting, 7:30 p.m. check-in for 7:45. We will begin the meeting with a talk by four representatives from Barclays Bank. They will discuss scams and how to best protect ourselves. The annual meeting will follow the question and answer session of the talk.
  • 3 May: Book Review group, 10:30 a.m., Saffron Walden Community Link Building. We have two books to be discussed this session: I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes and The Lido, by Libby Page. Our book choice for June is The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner.
  • 20 May: Coffee and Craft Group,10 a.m. to noon, Saffron Walden Community Link Building.
  • 24 May: Walk through Chippenham Park. Meet at the park at 11 a.m. with an optional lunch at La Hogue Farm Shop to follow. Please sign up on the sheet at the 2 May meeting if you plan to attend. The charge is £7 and is cash only for the entrance fee and the shop.
  • 28 May: Coffee Morning, 10:30 a.m. Blossom Bites, Taylor Barns, Wimbish.
